Electronic Arts says ends Take-Two buyout bid

Video game maker Electronic Arts says ends $2B buyout bid for 'Grand Theft Auto' publisher

Video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. says it is ending its its $2 billion takeover bid for rival Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., best known for the popular "Grand Theft Auto" series of games.

EA first made its unsolicited bid for Take-Two in February. But Take-Two executives urged the company's shareholders to reject the buyout, saying it was not enough money.

"EA has decided not to make a proposal to acquire Take-Two and has terminated discussions with Take-Two," a company statement said Sunday.
